What is the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Retest Policy?

You may retest under the following conditions:

• If you did not pass the exam.

• If your current certification is expiring.

Retest Rules:

• First and second attempts: You may take the exam twice within 30 days with no wait time between attempts.

• Third or more attempts: If a third attempt is needed, you must wait at least 60 days from your last attempt.

• Limit: No more than four attempts are allowed within a 12-month period.

Example Timeline:

• 1st attempt: June 1st

• 2nd attempt: June 2nd

• 3rd attempt: August 2nd (after 60-day wait)

• 4th attempt: October 2nd

Retake Requirements:

• Print exam: You will need to purchase an Exam Answer Sheet.

• Online exam: You will need to purchase an Exam Access Code.

• All retests must be proctored by a Registered ServSafe Proctor.
