What is required in my state?
The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB) requires servers, bartenders, and managers to obtain a Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) permit within 60 days of their initial hire date.
Successfully passing the ServSafe Alcohol Exam will provide servers with a Washington-specific ServSafe Alcohol certificate that is valid for 5 years but is NOT accepted as proof of training. Only MAST permits issued by the state are accepted (Class 12 for learners 21 years of age or older; Class 13 for learners between the ages of 18 and 20).
Within 30 days of successfully earning the ServSafe Alcohol Washington certificate, the Washington Hospitality Association Education Foundation (WHAEF) will disburse the MAST permit to learners. If you do not receive your permit within 30 days, please contact the WHAEF immediately. If, after contacting the WHAEF, you still do not receive your permit, contact the WSLCB at MAST@lcb.wa.gov or (360) 664-1727.
The state of Washington has changed genders that are allowed on state identification cards.
