What is required in my state?

In Nevada, responsible alcohol service training is mandatory; all employees who serve or sell alcoholic beverages or perform the duties of a security guard in a licensed liquor establishment in a county with a population of 700,000 or more must have a Nevada Alcohol Education Card.

The ServSafe Alcohol Online Course and Exam is an approved training in the state of Nevada; however, an additional proctored exam has to be taken for the mandatory training requirements. To acquire the Nevada Alcohol Education Card as required by Nevada Revised Statutes 369.630, alcohol servers and managers of alcohol servers need to complete an in-person test at a location approved by the Commission on Postsecondary Education (CPE).

Steps for acquiring the Nevada Alcohol Education Card

Step 1: Complete the ServSafe Alcohol Online Course and Exam.

Step 2: Register to take the state-specific exam proctored by the Nevada Restaurant Association. Proctored exam appointments can be made via phone: (702) 878-2313, Ext. 1004 or email: education@nvrestaurants.com.

Step 3: Bring your ServSafe Alcohol Certificate to your proctored exam session with the Nevada Restaurant Association.

Step 4: The Nevada Restaurant Association will issue the required Alcohol Education Card upon successful completion of the proctored exam.
